That's a unique suggestion. If anyone seconds it or explains how we would word that section's parameters, I'll add it.
What would the category be--culinary? Under that, what boards? |

Personally I like the idea of a Food Tech section. But will it fit in with the sites direction?
Off the top of my head there could be sections for the tools/hardware. New pots, pans, knives (knives could be a big one on it's own), gadgets for the kitchen, heck even appliances would fit in. There could be old tech stuff like cast iron cooking in the modern day, new techniques vs old, food safety issues/info/prep/storage/processing/handling and who knows what else. I'm sure recipes would be a subject that pops up often so would a recipe section then be needed? edk, What kind of things were you thinking about? Jon.

Jon's "Food Tech" sounds great. Given how prolific sales are in the domestic and semi-pro (enthusiast) fields are!! sections could include , knives, ovens, ranges, extractors, hygene, (food god forbid
)recipes (don't mean to sound toooo domesticated but I have an outrageuous KFC recipe).,,, just some thoughts.

I think in general it would be great to broaden out the scope of the forum to include all things "tech."

Well, I'm sure I could add several food threads to get things moving. And it sounds like edk would be able to get a few going as well.
As long as we can get new areas started with a few decent threads we should be ok. I hate to see areas that are empty. That's why I started the goofy threads in the fun and games area today. Jon.

I have often thought it might be nice to have a thread where people can bring up ideas for devices they would LIKE to see on the market someday.
For example, maybe a pocket sized color eBook that had an SD slot for direct and easy transfer from your computer, and which could be easily used to show Jpegs, text files, and other kinds of files without having to go online through some uncertain process. We have good reasons for not wanting to HAVE to go online here, what with insufficient bandwidths to accommodate everybody, and during lightning season when we routinely disconnect our computers until the storms leave. I have also in the past often used 12v powered laptops for writing computer programs so as to continue writing them while still avoiding surges in the 110v system, which commonly occur, and especially during thunderstorms.
