WOW -

Pretty good chance the camera was toast after that. Hope for his sake he had backup equipment!

Assuming he was shooting digital, there's a really good chance that after letting the media thoroughly dry, he could recover the pictures he already took. I know someone that put a CompactFlash through the washing machine and was able to get pictures off it.

John, about two years ago I ran one of my CF cards through the washer and dryer, I let it set and dry out for a day, and it was fine, I got the photos off it, and it's still in use today, I did put an X on it with a sharpie so I could keep an eye on it...LOL

What a bummer. Who care's about the wedding or his pride. That was a fair amount of gear that went into the drink.

I'd try to dry it all out and see what happens. I've had memory cards and memory sticks go through the wash several times without any problem. Not on purpose but it does happen...

Jon.

Two years ago three of us plus the rower capsided a large canoe (26 ft.) in a brackish water lagoon on the Caribbean Coast. Needless to say my P&S Olympus camera was toast but I did wash and dry the compact flash card and recovered my photo's. I disassembled the camera sometime later like 3 months and was amazed how much corrosion was all over the exposed metal parts, looked like a green copper antique.
