Anyone can or preserve food at home?
We do lots of jellies, jams, preserves, salsa, veggies and this year the kids want to start making pickles. Jon. __________________

Haven't done that since I was a kid helping my mother and grandmother.
I do bake almost all of my own bread and make all my own ice cream and sorbet.

Hmm....now that all depends on what's on the menu for the week!
Baguettes, ciabatta, and focaccia, Artian breads like rosemary and olive oil loaf with sea salt, french batards and boules. I also cook a lot of Thai and Indian foods, so I'm beginning to experiment with naan, roti and other flatbreads.

We don't can/preserve, but my wife uses canning jars extensively and I have a FoodSaver vacuum & sealing system that will vacuum & seal the canning jars too.
I vacuum & seal a lot.

Well, Jon didn't make it here in time for dinner, so I had to vacuum seal the leftovers.
Off-topic from the original thread, but now that I started using my FoodSaver, I'd never do without it. Love not getting freezer burn on meats and fish.

I think using a FoodSaver fits in here just fine. We have one but don't use it nearly as much as I'd like. My wife doesn't seem to like it that much for some reason. I think the biggest use we had for it was to vacuum down one of those tubs with chicken, veggies and Italian seasoning in it for quick marinating before a BBQ.

I collect and grind mesquite beans to make my famous mesquite waffles on the camp fire. And mesquite peanutbutter cookies among other yummy things. I manage to grind about 20 pounds a year and use it all up by next year.

So when are you inviting us over for breakfast?
Never heard of using mesquite beans before, but after your post, I searched around and found they're actually quite popular out west. Now I'm gonna have to try and get me some.
