I have a corrupt/damaged MP4 audio file. Any ideas on how to fix this? I've tried all media pro with out any luck. All ideas gratefully accepted!

What does it actually say when it tries to play? There is not usually a lot of success with fixing this but it might be possible I have heard of replacing a corrupt header file from another good file. I am assuming you would make a copy of the file and work on that rather than destroy the original. If it is a vital file, there is probably a recovery company out there who could help. Please note I have not tried myself, but it came up in a conversation a few weeks ago. Just a thought.

I certainly am no expert on this one but I have phoned a few friends and have the following suggestions. try playing it in quicktime. 2. it would seem that the file may have corrupt headers if too much was trying to be recorded over a full card or if the battery was low, then that can corrupt the files also. Most of he people who have heard of this problem have seen or heard of it on Nokia phones, It might be worth a call to the distributor to see if they can help.
The other suggestion was to find a previous good file and cut and paste the header file over the the bad, removing the bad part first of course. Obviously you would only try this with a copy of the file and not the original. One last thing, has this file ever played ok before and have you tried to play it on another machine? Might even be as simple as a codec issue, if you have performed an OS upgrade lately it might have had an effect you have not found yet. In my case I have just done a Windows 7 patch and now my skype will not automatically load on windows start-up any more. Anyway try those it is the best I can come up with. |
